Great Moments in Vinyl plays Electric Light Orchestra

Three musicians from Birmingham, England, were enamored of the orchestral touches that George Martin brought to the rock songs on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.  And they set their sights on following in those musical footsteps.

They called themselves the Electric Light Orchestra, a reference to the shorter, more accessible classical pieces that the BBC broadcast on their Light Programme.  But in the beginning, as vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Lynne helped E. L. O. find their footing, the group earned high praise from no less a musical authority than John Lennon.

John said he remembered “the statement they made when they first formed was to carry on from where The Beatles left off.  And they certainly did.  I call them Son of Beatles.”

Join Great Moments in Vinyl as we follow the career of the Electric Light Orchestra…from the formative early days of Eldorado and Face the Music to the chart-topping successes of A New World Record and Out of the Blue…and beyond.

Great Moments in Vinyl plays E. L. O. November 30th at The Venue in Aurora…featuring both the songs you know and love…and the tales of how they were created.  Because when you know the stories, you hear more in the music.

Ticketsk are now on sale through Eventbrite.
