Great Moments in Vinyl brings you closer to the songs you love by taking you behind the scenes to hear how the music and the lyrics came to be.  So this December, when we give you The Hits of the Holidays, you’ll discover things you didn’t know about your Christmas favorites.

Like the classic instrumental from the animated TV special that the network was convinced would be a failure.

Or Mariah Carey’s decision to follow up three worldwide #1 hits by putting out a Christmas album…giving her the biggest international hit of her career.

Or the time that David Bowie showed up in dyed hair and wild fashions to sing with Bing Crosby.  (Hint:  David changed his outfit.)

Or the song that each year inspires countless holiday merrymakers to attempt to survive Whamageddon.

And who but Dolly Parton could play the role of a brothel madame and deliver a heartfelt song about Christmas?

Once December arrives, give yourself a break from the holiday hubbub and enjoy one of best things about Christmas:  the music!  Great Moments in Vinyl gives you The Hits of the Holidays.  December 15th at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights.  Tickets available on the MPAC website here.

Relive some memories with us and enjoy the insights into the songs that make the season bright.  Because when you know the stories, you hear more in the music.
