1976!  The year of the U. S. Bicentennial.  The same year that Apple produced its first computer, CB radios became a fad, 7-Eleven served their first Big Gulp, and Honda marketed its first Accord.

We headed to movie theaters in droves to see both Rocky and All the President’s Men that year.  Or stayed home to watch Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley…or perhaps a brand new TV series called The Muppet Show.

But if you were more of a music fan, you probably visited your local record store to help make Frampton Comes Alive the best selling album of 1976…and to give Paul McCartney and his group Wings the #1 song of the year.

Rock fans got acquainted with newcomers Tom Petty, Warren Zevon, and Heart in ’76.  David Bowie took us on a new musical adventure.  And artists toiling in obscurity Bob Seger, Steve Miller, and Thin Lizzy made their commercial breakthroughs.
