The Doobie Brothers’ career almost ended before it really began thanks to an untimely draft notice.

At another point, their record company threatened to cancel their contract if they didn’t buckle down and actually sell some records.  Yet years later, an album they all thought was going to flop turned out to be the biggest of their career.

And how did an unknown singer go from covering Doobie Brothers hits at The Trojan Lounge in Glendale to taking all of Tom Johnston’s lead vocals weeks later on a cross country tour with The Doobies themselves?

Let Great Moments in Vinyl bring you inside the songs when we pay tribute to The Doobie Brothers, January 14th at SPACE. Ticket go on sale this Friday, 10/30 at 10 AM through their ticket website, but are available to you as pre-sale tickets beginning Wednesday, 10/28 at 10 AM using code TRICKORTREAT.

We’ll relive the energy of their biker band heyday and revisit the R ’n’ B flavored sound that took them to the top of the charts.  Plus you’ll get a peek behind the scenes into how the songs were written and the records were created.  Great Moments in Vinyl tells the stories of The Doobie Brothers.  Because when you know the stories, you hear more in the music.
