Another story to whet your appetite for the music of Tom Petty.

Just one of the stories behind the songs when we pay tribute to Tom Petty.

Paul Simon told his manager at the time, “I’ve written what I think is my greatest song.”  He played the two verses of it, and his manager agreed.  “Maybe once a decade, you’ll hear a song that is so striking, so powerful, so unusual.”

For their third album, Simon and Garfunkel were given four months in the summer of 1966 to take their time and put together the record that they wanted. One of the standouts on that recording was a folk song Paul had brought back from his time in England.
