Great songs. Great stories.

We know this one is a crowd pleaser!

We’ve paid tribute to Janis Joplin before. Back in 2015 when Great Moments in Vinyl was barely two years old and only 15 shows deep into our run of over 150 concerts. But when you have the right people, this music jumps off the stage.

So as we prepare to perform the music of this legendary artist once again, May 3rd at The Venue in Aurora, we look back on our first Janis Joplin tribute 11 years ago. Just as a reminder how powerful these songs are live.

Tickets are available now for our 2026 show through EventBrite.com featuring a line up of GMiV regulars: vocalist Bree Gordon with guitarist Chris Corsale, pianist Greg Woods, drummer and positive vibe techinician Jonathan Reed, trumpeter Charles Osearo, and saxophonist John Bowes plus Brother John Kattke who’s making his maiden voyage playing organ, rhythm guitar and bari sax. All accompanied by stories about the singer and her songs told by bandleader and bassist William Lindsey Cochran.

(Our 2015 video features two amazing singers who worked with GMiV at that time, Kara Cavanaugh and Judith Weirauch as well as two guitarists who contributed significantly to our shows over the years, Richard Pettengill and John Mead.)
