And I didn't know that either!
Here are some more tidbits of Chicago trivia that we discovered while putting together our next tribute.
The band Chicago was originally asked to record a Beatles song for the movie Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. But their manager nixed the idea, and the song was given to Earth, Wind & Fire instead…who turned “Got to Get You into My Life” into a Top 10 hit…and won a Grammy for it.
Peter Cetera’s first instrument wasn’t the bass, it was an accordion. “It didn’t do me any good for my rock ‘n’ roll career,” he said, “but it actually was a lot of fun.”
And once upon a time Frank Sinatra wanted to record “Colour My World,” but when he asked songwriter James Pankow to write another verse for the song, Pankow turned him down. He didn’t feel he had anything he could honestly add to what he’d already written.
