Great songs. Great stories.

Here's another bunch of Chicago trivia

Let’s see if we can surprise you with some more things you might not know about this horn-powered rock band ..

Although they were named for the city where most of the band members grew up, the three horn players in Chicago were actually from the suburbs:  Maywood, Elmwood Park, and Park Ridge.  Drummer Danny Seraphine came from a particularly rough northwest side neighborhood.  And he recalls he was “running with a gang when Terry Kath pulled me off the streets.”

The group did love to party, sometimes flying in Playboy bunnies for entertainment at the Colorado studio where they often recorded.  And they also developed a fondness for drugs.  Even though their management kept it covered up, apparently the members of Chicago were as wild as Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones.

One other thing that Chicago had in common with The Stones was management troubles.  What Keith Richards said about one of his band’s most controversial managers could also be said about the man who steered Chicago to fame:  “He made us,…and he screwed us.”

Find out just how that went down when you catch our tribute to Chicago on June 29th at The Venue in Aurora.  Great songs.  Great stories.
